Nevada Institute for the Advancement of Contemporary Art, Founded in 2008

In 2008 David Sanchez Burr and his Intermedia Class undertook an important step toward understanding the institution of art education in the University context. NIACA was created to fulfill certain aspects of art creation often dismissed and ignored by institutions of higher education. Indeed the world has changed since the academization of art, many institutions lack the capacity to organize themselves around new practices, any investigation has to be categorized and filed under an unsuitable department. This very unorganized and bearocratic treatment of new ventures prompted NIACA into action, from it's creation NIACA will serve to create a fully acredited department for any new interest and investigation. This strategy not only promotes a healthy self investigation from the individual but also demands that the Chair of that department involve themselves directly with the education of others. This new model of academia will take us into the next century, become a chair.
