"Self-Portrait" is a 2006 commission of New Radio and Performing Arts, Inc., (aka Ether-Ore) for its Turbulence web site. It was made possible with funding from the Jerome Foundation.
My artwork is often interactive.
Interactivity is inelegant. An interactive artwork is unfinished except for the moments when someone actively engages the work. But it is this action of completion that I find interesting. It makes explicit the viewers' contribution to the creative act.
My artworks manipulate and process human creativity (either supplied by viewer interaction or from source material found on the internet) into a synthesized new work. I do not think of the resulting work as being authored by a machine. Instead, I think the human source of the original material highlights creativity as a human act.
